New Printed Reports, Excel Output

With the receipt storing feature becoming very popular (upload your receipts via the website or email/forward them to r@xpenser.com), we had many requests for improved printing capabilities – a comprehensive report, including all associated receipts.

We spent some time with your receipt submissions, going through the various wonderful formats they’re submitted in, did some conversion magic, and hopefully ended up with something you’ll enjoy.

Look for the Print button on the Xpenser Expenses page:

Click it and you’ll see a preview of your report:

This report includes not only your expenses, but also all associated receipts, numbered for easy cross reference.

Hit the PDF button to download a copy of this report as PDF, and the Excel button to download the report as Excel:

The new Excel export does away with the issues related to international characters; they should now work well.

Please give it a spin and let us know what you think. We love feedback, we read all your emails, and we generally respond quickly, so don’t be shy: leave a comment here or send email to feedback@xpenser.com .

    Nice!

Do you convert receipts uploaded as pdf or forwarded in email (airline, etc) so they can be included in the report or is it jpg only?

Are you planning on any other types of reports, say invoice or summarized by category?

    Hi Shane,

    Thanks!

Yes, just about anything you upload or submit should work – pdf, jpg, gif, png, tiff, html, emails from airlines or hotels, etc. If you find anything that doesn’t work well let us know and we’ll get on it.

Yes, we’ve had quite a few requests for the following formats: invoice, summarized by day, and summarized by type. Note that you can do very nice invoices using our integration with FreshBooks, but we’re working on all of the requested formats as well. Keep an eye on the blog or on Twitter: http://twitter.com/xpn for updates.

Everybody, please let us know what formats are your top priority.

You guys are amazing. Love the pdf report with scanned receipts attached. This is so much easier when I submit for payment or reimbursements. Keep up the good work!

    Very slick! Nice work.
Suggestion: Any possibility of having the employee that submitted an expense claim identified? Nice utility for sending expenses via email but would be great if the expense can be linked to the sender.

    Wayne, thanks!

The employee’s email address is included in the top right, and we’ll be adding the ability to identify by name, etc, in an upcoming version.

Ability to submit reports via email: absolutely, this is coming up shortly. Let us know if you’d like to be a beta tester: feedback@xpenser.com .

    RE: PDFs and Shane’s question…

I have recently discovered JotNot for the iPhone. Simply take a photo of your receipt and email it as PDF to r@xpenser.com with your normal subject text. It’s awesome!

Excellent work! I really like the PDF report. I have a couple of suggestions.

    1. It would be nice to have the option of not having the total in the report. I do not use the automatic currency converter as I use the one my credit car company charges me or the company standard rate if I pay cash. I store the currency in the notes.

    2. The report should also include the tags. Those are included in the Excel export

    3. It would be very nice to have the ability to rename the columns to match the vocabulary of the client’s company.

    Keep up the great work.

David, excellent feedback, we’ll work on all of those. Our end goal is to allow you to define your own templates, although it’ll be a while before we get there.

My pdf report does not contain the actual receipts, only a number (1,2,3…) for the receipt. How can I get the receipts?

  12. Spencer on June 1st, 2011

    Hi Sue,

Could you send us an email at feedback@xpenser.com with details of which receipt and we’ll take a look?
