Also, I think it’s more appropriate to have the conversion rate for the expense date rather than the date of expense submitted, although usually the bank charges at the rate of the date when we pay off the credit card.

1 – We primarily use the IMF. See the Keywords page for a pointer to the data source.
2 – Calculated at the time of expense submission – we don’t calculate based on past rates.
3 – The conversion rate is the rate used to convert the amount of the foreign currency to the base currency. For example if you spend 10 USD and the conversion rate is 0.69 you’d have spent 6.90 GBP. The rate shown is literally the rate multiplied by the foreign currency to produce the base currency amount.

1. Can you publish what conversion rate/service you use for this.
2. Is it calculated at the time the expense is submitted or for the date of the expense ?
3. IMO the rate is the wrong way around (should be 1/rate) – I have my base set to GBP and the conversion for USD show a rate of 0.68xxxx, that is w.r.t the USD dollar, but from my perspective it should be w.r.t the GBP (so it should be a rate of 1.48xxxx) as (again from my perspective) there are 1.48xxxx dollars to the pound, not 0.68xxxx pounds to the dollar…
