Sorry Phil, Jott used to be free (this post is from 2007) but switched to a payed model later. You can still use Dial2Do for free - from the Account page, sign up for the Dial2Do service.

You said Jott is free, yet their website does not offer free use, only a free trial period.
Am I missing something?
I'm going to use this as a household budget tool. Maybe you could use the same engine and create a "budgeter" service.
Thanks.

Eliza, you can specify expenses to go to particular reports. For example:

- Create a report called "Diet". Set a keyword for it. If you include this keyword in your expense submission, the expense will be filed into the Diet report. You can pick any keyword you like, perhaps "food".

- When you submit your expense, say the keyword as part of your expense. For example,
"hamburger 280 from fatburger food"

Here "food" would indicate the expense should be filed in the "Diet" report, and 280 would be the calories.

We'll have instructions and a video soon.

I am using Xpenser with Jott and am ready to "upgrade" to using reports for various functions, including diet and exercise.

I can't quite tell if I can categorize a jott to go to say, the diet report instead of the expense report or if I have to move the items online at xpenser.

Liz: the expense should show up in Xpenser as soon as you see it recorded in Jott. Contact us at feedback@xpenser.com with the details and we can look into it in detail.

This will be such a great tool!
Question:
I just JOTT'd a test expense to xpenser via phone saying
"Meal five dollars test"
I see the entry in JOTT but it is missing in xpenser even after 14 minutes.
How long does it normally take for a JOTT entry to show up in my xpenser account?
Thanks!
Liz

Pat: Thanks!

- Yes, that is exactly the correct format.

- Expense types are free-form (as opposed to limited to a pre-set number of categories) at the moment. You can use any category so long as your expense is in the above format.

- One expense per call at the moment.

Love it! Outstanding product and wonderfully easy to setup and use.

3 questions:

- is the correct format "type" "value" "comment"?

- are the expense types pre-categorized or don't you care? i.e. so long as I speak in the correct sequence you'll take the type/value/comment as is?

- Can I do multiple entries in one Jott call? Have tried it a couple of times and it appears to take everything after the dollar value as being a comment (which means it's still captured, and that's vitally important), but doesn't appear to trigger on 'type' and thus create a new record.

TIA. Pat.
